Born in a humble family to Laltlansang Songate and Lalneichawng during the spring season of 1991 at Lungthulien, Gospel Songate's birth was marked by the great catastrophic landslide along the Tipaimukh Road popularly known as "Kailam rawl chim kum". This earthfall caused road block almost throughout the year leaving behind the Hmarbiel (Hmar Area) populace virtually in a condition with no rice bag. The people of Hmarram (Hmar Land) suffered severe famine in that year. Songate, with his two brothers and a sister, were brought up in private run schools viz. Roman Catholic School and Partnership Mission School. Their school days were a day of self-supporting, domestication of pig and poultry enabled them to go on with education under adverse family economic condition.
On 7th November, 2002 Songate's mother Lalneichawng passed away at their residence in Lungthulien while his father Laltlansang Songate, working as Youth Promoter, was in Tripura to attend a Youth Convention of the Evangelical Assembly Church (EAC). Songate was only 10 years old.
In 2009, preceded by his two siblings, Songate too passed out High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) from remote village Lungthulien. He pursued further studies at Churachandpur Government College and Public Higher Secondary School, Aizawl. He passed pre-university from Aizawl in 2011 and worked for the time being as teacher in Little Light School, Hunthar Veng, Aizawl for 3 months and later moved to Gurucharan College, Silchar for three yeas degree course. In those days, Gurucharan College was top institution under Assam University (Central) and well-known even in the entire Northeastern states. In 20014 he graduated with History Honours and did his Master Degree at Assam University, Silchar. He completed the same in 2016.
In 2017 Gospel Songate again got admitted to study B.Ed for another two years at Teachers' Training College, Silchar. To draw himself nearer to his life dream profession, he underwent professional training course ignoring government job he had got in NCERT graduate level Clerical Exam. Besides this, he is a regular blogger and make his living from blogging and YouTube.

Being involved in social services right from his 8th standard, he hold various responsibilities with the Hmar Students' Association like Information Secretary, Vice President, Secretary, Adviser at unit and branch level, he also represented Joint Headquarters several times at executive council and general assembly. From 2018 he has been appointed as Executive Member of the Hmar Literature Society, Assam. During the Manipur tribal movement spearheaded by the tribals in Hill Area against the 3 bills passed by the then Ibobi government, tribals in other parts of the country were united. Subsequently, Tribal Forum Silchar now called Tribal Students' Forum, Silchar was formed on 4th September, 2015 under the convenership of Gospel Songate. Songate has had developed a sense of social service in his youthful days for which politics has become his passion for extending services so as to reach the unreached poor.
During his college days, Songate was interested in reading "I Too Had A Love Story", "Can Love Happen Twice" and "Love Stories That Touched My Heart" by Ravinder Singh. He also love to read Hitler's popular book "Mein Kampf" for the book had enthusiastically inspired the German youth.
Songate may have been known to some by his writings in various leading publications like Zawllung Monthly Magazine, Churachandpur Times, H.S.A Souvenir, Hmasawna Thar and social media sites. He worked as Joint Editor in Zawllung Magazine and presently reporter with Virthli Online News Portal and a regular blogger. He publishes various websites. Above all, he is the publisher/owner of Zonieng
